The Association of Marian Sodality kept the 9th Women’s Convention at St. Michael’s Church, Damra with the theme “Jesus is the Fountain of Mercy”. There were 900 women gathered for the occasion from 11 parishes of Goalpara district belonging to the diocese of Guwahati. The four days programme, 7th to 10th January was inaugurated at the portico of the presbytery where the statue of Mother Mary was adorned magnificently. The inauguration function began with the lighting of the candles and solemn hoisting of the Marian Sodality flag by Fr. Milon Narzary the Parish Priest of Damra which was sited at the centre followed by the placing of the flags of different parishes around the statue of Mother Mary. The first day of the convention was concluded with the solemn Eucharistic celebration.
To grace this occasion, Damra Parish was blessed to have 12 priests, brothers and sisters from the parishes of Goalpara district. The four days programme went on successfully under the guidance of Fr. Crosper Sangma the Chancellor of Guwahati Archdiocese who is also the director of Marian Sodality group with the help and co-operation of Fr. Milon Narzary, Fr. Nicodim Aind, Bro. Benedict Sangma and the community of Nirmala convent particularly Sr. Aluti Rabha and Sr. Philomina Dungdung who were fully involved in the whole programme. Days were well planned with different programme such as teaching, preaching, Bible Skits, dance competition, picnic and recreation. The convention was concluded with the Holy Masson Sunday. Huge number of faithful participated in the thanksgiving Eucharistic celebration and the closing ceremony of the women’s convention. Everything went on well with the grace of God and under the guidance of Mary Help of Christians.
